What happens

Answer. Discover. Explore.

  1. 01

    Answer

Thirty short statements about activities. No right answers, nothing to prepare, and you can stop and come back.

  2. 02

    Discover

Your six interest areas, ranked against each other and written in plain English — with the reasoning shown.

  3. 03

    Explore

Real occupations linked to your strongest areas, each carrying the reason it appeared. Directions to look into, not verdicts.

How we handle it

Private, deterministic, and kept out of every score.

  • Deterministic scoring

The same answers always produce the same result. No model guesses at you.

  • No employer visibility

Your profile is yours. No employer or recruiter can see it.

  • No effect on scoring

Profiling never enters Career Health, gap analysis or your CV.

  • Not a test

It measures interest, not ability — and never predicts how you would perform.

How this works — the methodology

Career Profiling is a structured interest and work-preference exploration tool developed for CareerPathIQ. It is informed by UK careers-guidance practice, including the National Careers Service approach to discovering your skills and careers, and it uses UK and European occupational and skills language aligned with the European Commission’s ESCO classification.

The mechanics are deliberately plain: thirty short statements about kinds of work, a fixed five-point response scale, and simple addition within each of the six interest areas. Nothing is weighted, modelled or inferred, and the same answers always produce the same result. Your areas are only ever compared with your own other answers, never with anyone else’s.

Career directions are UK job titles grouped under your strongest areas, using ESCO-compatible skills and occupation concepts. If two areas come out level, you are asked which interests you more — or you can leave them level.

This is not a clinical or psychometric diagnosis, and it does not determine your career or predict how well you would do in a role. It exists to support exploration, not to label you. What is realistic for you is settled later, by the evidence in your Career Record.

Where this sits

The first step in your connected career journey. Interest opens the door; evidence tells you what you can support.
