Interview preparation

Walk in with answers you can stand behind.

Rehearse credible answers built from the evidence already in your record — the strong examples you can prove, and honest answers for the requirements you cannot yet.

How it works

  1. 1Target role
  2. 2Your evidence
  3. 3Practice question
  4. 4Your structured answer

Practice questions come from your target's recorded requirements. Nothing you type is saved, sent or scored, and no interview outcome is predicted.

Practice preview

Illustrative example — not your result
  1. Target role

    Operations Director — requirements recorded

  2. Your record

Each requirement evidenced, or needing evidence

  3. Practice question

Built from a requirement and its state

  4. Your structured answer

    Scale · yours · change · where

From an evidenced requirement · Budget discipline

"Tell me about a time you held budget discipline without letting service quality slip."

ScaleYoursChangeWhere

Nothing you type in practice is saved, sent or scored.

Inputs

What Interview Preparation actually uses.

Only what is genuinely on your record. No job-description input and no AI question generation in this flow today.

Input 1

Your target role's requirements

The skills and qualifications recorded for the role you are working towards — the same requirements measured everywhere else in CareerPathIQ.

Input 2

Your evidence states

Which of those requirements are already evidenced on your record, and which still need evidence. Evidenced requirements become recall prompts; the rest become honest gap rehearsal.

Input 3

A fixed general set

Three general questions — your career narrative, a decision that went wrong, and your questions for the employer. A static set, openly declared.

Answer craft

A strong answer is not the same as a polished answer.

The practice screen asks you to pin four things down. This is preparation guidance for you to apply — the product does not check, score or analyse your answers against it.

  1. 1

    Scale

How big was it — budget, people, sites?

  2. 2

    Yours

    What was yours to decide?

  3. 3

    Change

    What changed because of it?

  4. 4

    Where

    Which role and organisation?

Plus the discipline that ties them together: keep it concise enough to say out loud in about two minutes.

Worked example

From a vague answer to interview evidence.

Illustrative throughout — the facts in an answer must always be yours. CareerPathIQ never supplies achievements, metrics or examples.

The question

"Tell me about a time you improved an underperforming process."

The vague version

"I improved reporting at my last job."

No scale, no ownership, no outcome — nothing an interviewer can probe, and nothing your record could defend.

Pinned down with the four prompts

  • Where / scale: which process, at which organisation, how big?
  • What was wrong: late, error-prone, costly — specifically?
  • Yours: what did you personally change, not the team in general?
  • Change: what result can you point to on your record?
The structured version — illustrative

"At Northgate Care, agency spend reporting ran two weeks late each month. I rebuilt the rota sign-off so costs were confirmed weekly, and agency use fell by a third over nine months."

If the facts are on your record, the answer defends itself. If they are not, the honest move is to record real evidence — or rehearse the gap answer, not invent one.

Honest limits

What CareerPathIQ can help with — and what it cannot know.

What it can help with

Inside the product today

  • Practise questions built from your target role's recorded requirements
  • Recall your own evidenced examples faster, with structure
  • Rehearse honest answers where your record has a genuine gap
  • See which requirements still lack evidence before interview day

What it cannot know

No product can

  • The exact questions an employer will ask
  • What an interviewer will think of your answer
  • How you compare with other candidates
  • The hiring decision, or any probability of it
  • Whether any answer guarantees an outcome

IllustrativeInterview preparation never changes your evidence, your record or any measurement. Practising improves delivery, not the facts — and nothing you type is saved or shared.

Optional escalation

After self-practice, a human can pressure-test you.

Self-practice comes first and is part of membership. When the interview really matters, a 60-minute human mock interview against your target role adds structured written feedback from a named practitioner — a paid service, never a score from the platform.

Practise the interview you are actually going to have.

Start free, set your target role, and rehearse against its recorded requirements — with answers your own record can defend.
